Collectors Steins
Schilz traditional Westerwald stein collection is a series of fine beer tankards that are still being produced with the ages old method of salt glazing. Schilz Ceramics started their production in 1861. Today the company is in its 11th generation with Harald und Volker Schilz and belong to one of the oldest still existing companies of this kind in Höhr-Grenzhausen. Using old original Schilz designs, these Blau-Grau Bierkrüge are hand thrown, hand etched and then delicately handpainted with the typical cobalt blue glaze, in the later part of the firing process salt is added to the kiln which creates the salt glaze with it's original orange peel-like surface texture. The top grade quality pewter lid attachments makes these steins a worthy investment for all beer stein collectors.
